Our little neighborhood is experiencing a building boom, with many of the older homes being razed and new construction going up. Such is the case right next door. We’ve been monitoring the progress of 4 new homes being built on the corner lot up from ours. This is our view from the office window.
There is no stopping progress and change in this world, and once the houses are completed, they will only add value to our neck of the woods. But still, I’ve been a little unsettled at the sight. And then I looked more closely at this picture. A little hummingbird, perched on a pruned limb of a Rose of Sharon tree, fills me with more wonder and awe than all of the new construction put together. “Value-added” is an understatement.
