Bubblegum Stars Quilt

This quilt top was made by my maternal great-grandmother, Nancy Steele Sibley, in 1945. The top remained folded up and stored away for 70 years, until my sister discovered it among my mother’s things after she passed in 2014. In 2019, I finished the quilt with a muslin back and a small flower quilting design. The quilt top is constructed with 12″ LeMoyne Star blocks. Great-grandma used a popular (at that time) “bubble-gum” pink solid fabric, interwoven with pink dress-prints. She was careful with her block placement – notice the darker pink fabrics that are placed diagonally in two of the corners. Size: 72″ x 72″.
