This quilt started as a way to use a stash of batik fabrics that I had hung onto for a few years. The colors in the fabrics made me think of the beautiful views from a greenway that I regularly walk. And the creek made me think of a very fond memory I have of meandering down the Harpeth River in a canoe with my husband and teenaged daughter. Finally, the canoe trip made me think of this antique quilt using the crossed canoes quilt block, circa 1860.
