Last fall, a client came to me with 10 small bags of baby clothes – mostly onesies and receiving blankets – and asked me to make 10 throw-size quilts so that family and friends would have something to hold in their arms, in place of their dear little Emerson Kate, who passed away at the age of one. These would be their Christmas gifts, and their way to remember Emerson forever.
The finished quilts are baby-sized throws at approximately 40″x 40″, made with a solid warm gray flannel for the sashing and borders that surround each block of clothing, and a flannel for the back that wishes good night to this little angel. At the center of each quilt is an entire piece of clothing, some with an embroidered receiving blanket as well. The quilting designs include hearts and flowers.
